SCHOOL RESUMES
School resumes in 2009 on Tuesday 27 January at 8.40 am. The school will be open in the week before this date for enrolment enquiries and uniform sales. Students will be issued with their books during the first two weeks of school so there is no need to be doing things around booklists before school starts.
YEAR 7 GRADUATION
Our Year 7 students celebrated leaving Primary School on Thursday night at the Yr 7 Graduation Ceremony.
Our congratulations are extended to Meg Bourne, winner of the Living the School's Values Award sponsored by Mr Steve Georganis, Federal Member for Hindmarsh. Mr Georganis was present to present the Award.
Our congratulations are extended to Olivia May, winner of the Mary Colton Award for Service to the School. This award is sponsored by Mr Paul Ciaca, State member for Colton, who was not able to be present on the night.
We wish our Year 7 students all the best for the next part of their life at High School.
We thank them for the contribution that they have made to our school this year.
CLASS PLACEMENTS 2009
Class Placement letters will accompany the Student Reports on Wednesday 10 December. Sometimes people are not happy about their child's placement for next year. I am happy to hear your concerns but there will be no change to placements this year. We will be conducting a "mini placement" exercise again to start next year and your concerns will be looked at as part of that exercise. We will need to place students who come to enrol at the start of the next year and so we will do a mini placement exercise then. We have many requests as part of the Placement Exercise and we are not able to satisfy all of them. A great deal of time and effort has gone into the placements and whilst we may get some wrong, generally we do a pretty good job with matching up all of the conflicting demands and issues that need to be catered for.
MUSIC POSITION
As you will be aware, we say farewell to Marian Woodlands this year. Marian has led our Music department with great enthusiasm and excitement and has given us many stunning experiences and opportunities for young people to grow and perform. This school has a strong tradition in music area and we will miss her leadership and personality. We wish Marian well in her new school and we know how lucky they are. Many thanks Marian for the wonderful years you have given Fulham North!
Now if you are a DECS registered employable music teacher and want to work in fantastic school leading the Music program, then give us a ring on 8356 9272 to discuss your interest in our position. The role is 0.7 FTE but the school is a great place to work and the students will give you many wonderful moments during your time here.
CONGRATULATIONS!
Victoria Williams has been awarded the Josiah Mitton Best All Rounder Award for 2008. This award is sponsored by the Charles Sturt Council and Victoria is a very worthy winner. The award will be presented as soon as we can arrange it, as we were not able to attend the official ceremony.
WHOLE SCHOOL MUSICAL .....WHAT A FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE!
The Musical was held on Thursday 6 November at Royalty Theatre. What stunning performances! The R-2 Musical was called, "Music and Me" and over 160 students were on stage making it a very colourful and exciting evening. The Year 3 -7 Musical was called, "Encore! Music of our Times," and over 200 performers circulated on and off the stage over the 45 minutes of the performance.
Marian Woodlands, Kirsty Lake and Kirsty Crouch were responsible for outstanding performances by the whole cast. It was a credit to the school students and their families that we had such a fantastic turn out at both the Dress rehearsal and the Evening Performance.
